MONTELLA: MILAN IS WORKING ON DONNARUMMA DEAL

Vincenzo Montella has said that Serie A side AC Milan are working at convincing highly rated first choice keeper Gianlugi Donnarunmma to stay with the club.

The 18-year old has been a subject of speculation to several top clubs but the club wants to keep him.

Donnarunmma is in the last year of his deal with the Rossoneriso he is attracting attention but Montella hopes to keep him next season and possibly beyond.

“The club are making enormous efforts to ensure his outstanding quality is recognised. I like him like a son, but not he needs to make a decision and realise what he wants to do as a grown up,” Montella said.

He added that new owners of the club are ambitious and they are doing all they can to retain him. The keeper became the youngest keeper to debut for the Italian senior side last year at age 17. He is on youth terms with Milan and he is seeking his first pro deal.

If he agrees to a move to Manchester City, Manchester United or other top European sides, he would earn significantly more than what Milan can offer. His agent Mino Raiola said he wants to see how ambitious the owners claim they are before his client agrees to a new deal.

Milan defeated Bologna 3-0 to secure a place in the Europa League qualifiers this summer. Gerard Deulofeu, outgoing Keisuke Honda and GianlucaLapadulahelps them to the victory. This would be the first time the team play in a European tournament since 2014. Montella’s decision to play a flexible 3-5-2 was crucial.

Milan have been linked with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Lazio’s Naby Keita as they seek to rebuild the former giants.
